What Arthur does

Arthur saves the rendered article in the tab you choose as Markdown. With the separately installed optional macOS helper, it can save Markdown and browser-retrievable attachments directly to a folder you choose.

Data collection and sharing

Arthur has no account, analytics, telemetry, advertising, remote backend, or data sale/sharing. It does not send article content, local destination preferences, or saved files to Arthur or another service.

Local processing and retention

The extension processes the active article after you activate its toolbar action. Its preferences are stored locally by your browser. Downloaded Markdown is controlled by your browser’s download settings. When you enable the native helper, you select the destination folder and Arthur writes only the save you request there.

Optional native helper

The helper receives article content only during a save you initiate. It is optional. If it is not installed or disconnects before a save begins, Arthur downloads Markdown with remote media links instead; it does not write into your configured folder or download attachments.

Your controls

You control when Arthur reads an article by clicking its toolbar action. You may remove the extension from your browser. You may remove the optional helper with pnpm native:uninstall; that removes only Arthur’s helper and browser manifests, not your browser profile or saved files.
